Out of an abundance of caution, and in light of wide-spread recommendations to limit large events to prevent further spread of Coronavirus, we regretfully announce that we are canceling this weekend’s Region 16 Odyssey of the Mind Tournament at Riverside HS in Leesburg. There are no plans to re-schedule the tournament, and a decision has not yet been made about whether to hold the state tournament in April.
Your regional board knows how hard you and your teams have worked on your solutions, and we are tremendously sorry we won’t get to see your performances. Given that the regional board is a creative group, we are continuing to brainstorm potential ways for you to showcase your solutions. While your performances are still fresh, we encourage you to video your performance and keep it handy (but please, no public showings before World Finals!)
FAQs:
My team bought t-shirts, how will we get them?
We will be in touch with the teams who pre-purchased t-shirts for delivery.
Will tournament fees be refunded?
Dulles Voices is a not-for-profit organization, and tournament fees are used to purchase items to run the tournament. Due to the late date, much of the tournament fees have already been spent on supplies for the tournament. We are considering a pro-rated refund based on an accounting of our expenditures, but hope your teams will consider your fees a donation to support the organization. If you would like a partial refund, please reach out to rd@nwvoices.org.
My team was the only one in my division and problem. Can we still go to states?
We have posed this question to the state organization and will update this FAQ when we have the answer.
Have judges and volunteers been notified?
Yes, judges and volunteers received the same email as coaches and coordinators, and should also be receiving an email from their problem captains and volunteer coordinator. However, please reach out to your judge and volunteer in case they miss the email.
